Putting The Fun Back Into Label Printing

As a student of marketing for over 20 years, the biggest sin in marketing is to be boring and bland. The same goes for your printed labels. The last thing you want is labels that go unnoticed.

Be daring.

Be different.

Use your imagination. Animals, cartoon characters and other images are useful. Not only do they put the fun back into label printing but they also attract attention.

Getting the attention of your target audience whether that be on a website, in a letter or in the aisle of a supermarket, is what marketing is all about. Never forget that your labels are part of your marketing process so if they are outrageous or controversial or unusual, then that is a good thing. Gurus in the marketing world will tell you there are many ways to stimulate an audience, to attract attention and to persuade people to your particular argument or sales pitch.

Two such ingredients in making your delivery successful are laughter and enjoyment. There are any many situations in which fun can be a powerful tool in a marketing campaign and label printing is certainly one of them. Use Fun And Humour With Your Product Labels Anyone in business will know the need for and importance of appropriate product labels.

But not to put too fine a point on it, there are labels and there are labels. You see you not only want the right material on which the labels are printed, you also want the best quality printing. Product labels are such a simple and relatively inexpensive marketing tool. They can perform more than one job at the same time. They can clearly identify the contents of the product and at the same time advertise that product and your company.

But what of the design of your printed product labels? Just think of some of the types of product labels you require. If you are selling a product at a supermarket or other retail outlet, then your product is likely to be on the shelf with other similar products. You only have a couple of seconds through your label to differentiate your product from the rest. That is quite a skill and this is where humour can play a part. Humour is good as it is under-utilised in marketing today so it will help your product stand out. If you own a small business and you are not ready to display your product in the big supermarkets, then you will still want to package your product effectively to get it to your customer.

In this case, it is still important to have an interesting and perhaps humorous product label as you want your product to stimulate interest and be remembered. Getting the first sale is great but the money is in repeat sales so it is important that your product is noticed even after it is purchased so why not add a bit of fun to your printed labels. If you are giving a gift to your long-standing customers and wish to acknowledge their support, an appropriate gift is, well, appropriate. You will wrap the gift well but you also need a label to identify the gift and to express your appreciation.

What a wonderful opportunity to put some fun into your label printing. Express yourself. Let your hair down. Add a bit of sparkle to what otherwise might be a conservative approach. Be different. Remember that the actual giving of the gift is appreciated as much as the gift itself. But you ice the cake when you attach a product label to the gift which puts a smile on the face of the giver.
